This three or four day programme is designed to assist delegates and companies in the provision of CCTV training that meets SIA requirements for licensing and NOCN requirements for examination. Delegates will gain an in-depth understanding of the current legislation pertinent to their work and invaluable knowledge relating to the purpose and principals of CCTV surveillance systems. There are 32 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) on this programme which all students must complete to achieve the qualification, this is a requirement of both the SIA and the Awarding Organisation.

Students who enrol on the 3 day programme (23 GLH) will be required to complete a further 9 hours 'Home Study' towards achieving the 'Common Unit', some of this study should be attempted prior to attending the course. The remainder to be completed on the programme, by 'Home Study' in the evening's. Training staff will be available to assist students with all aspects of their 'Home Study' prior to attending and during the course. Candidates who enrol on the 4 day programme will complete all guided learning hours (32 GLH) in the classroom with no 'Home Study' required.


Who Should Attend/Entry Requirements

This course is designed for new entrants to the industry, people transferring from other security functions, those with jobs which includes some elements of CCTV (PSS) surveillance and existing security staff requiring a qualification, in order to apply for an SIA licence.

  • CCTV Surveillance Techniques
  • Emergency Procedures/Health and Safety in the CCTV Control Room

Our resources are tailored to the content in which they're being used, they will include; Video presentations, use of video recording for practical activities, scenario based learning, group activities, quizzes, PowerPoint, blast boards, ICT and others.


Assessment is made up of 2 compulsory one hour multiple choice examinations held on separate days ,and a practical assessment held on the final day of the course.

Core skills are essential for individuals to work safely and meet quality standards in our industry and will be introduced where possible, students will be taught how to operate email and provided with an email address if applicable.


Successful candidates will be awarded the Level 2 Award for working as a CCTV PSS Operator within the Private Security Industry (QCF), and will be able to apply to the SIA to be licensed.
